Kerrang! Radio (2008)

kerrang_radio_2008.gifSticker for the specialist rock station Kerrang! Radio available nationwide on Sky (0183) and Freeview (809) and in some areas on DAB.  It's essentially the Birmingham ILR Kerrang! 105.2.

Kerrang! 105.2 (2008)

kerrang_1052_2008.gifVisually appealing sticker for the West Midlands specialist rock station Kerrang! 105.2.  Great design.

Scot FM (1990s)

Kiss 100 (2005)

Kiss 100 2005
Sticker for London station Kiss 100. A clever way of turning the letters KISS into a logo of its own.  Was it deliberate to use it in a city that has a station called Heart?

Wiltshire Radio (Pre-launch 1982)

wiltshire_radio_pre_launch_1982.gifPre-launch sticker for Wiltshire Radio. The station launched on 12th October 1982.

Wiltshire Radio (1983)

Wiltshire Radio 1983Slight update of Wiltshire Radio's launch sticker - this time showing wavelengths.

Radio West (1983)

Radio West 1983The local radio station for Bristol, Bath and Weston Super-Mare that launched in 1981.  Four years later it merged with neighbouring Wiltshire Radio to become GWR.

Wiltshire Radio (1982)

Wiltshire Radio 1982A sticker given away during the first few months of Wiltshire Radio.

Three years later Wiltshire Radio merged with Radio West (in Bristol) and relaunched as GWR.  You might recognise the inverted commas and staves which were later adopted on this GWR sticker.

GWR Radio - Bath (1988)

GWR Radio Bath 1988Is it GWR Radio or GWRadio?  If it's GWR Radio does that mean it's Great Western Radio Radio?

Anyway, here we see a link between the 1987 sticker and the 1990 one.  The inverted commas remain on staves but with the new logo behind them.

GWR FM - Bristol (1996)

gwr_bristol_1996.gifGWR FM Bristol the station with a 'Better Music Mix' - any regular commercial radio listener will more than likely have heard that slogan at some point on one of the former GWR Group owned stations.  Some hate it, some love it.  What say you?

GWR FM (1990)

GWR 1990A nice colourful sticker for GWR FM.  Interesting that they dropped the inverted commas from the logo (see this sticker from 1988).  Perhaps signalling the reduction in chatter.

Also quite interesting to note that GWR didn't think it was necessary back then to promote their specific frequency.

GWR (1987)

gwr_1987.gifEarly sticker for GWR.  A speech and music station - that's why the inverted commas are on staves.

GWR launched in 1985 after the merger of Radio West and Wiltshire Radio.

Nick Ferrari on LBC 97.3 (2005)

lbc_2005_nick_ferrari.gifSticker promoting Nick Ferrari at Breakfast on LBC 97.3.  He's been known to be a little harsh to callers he disagrees with - hence the warning.

LBC 97.3 (2005)

lbc_2005.gifSimple window sticker from London talk station LBC 97.3.  The logo gives the impression that it's been ripped out of a tabloid newspaper - which might explain where some of the topics discussed come from.  Still my favourite station though!

LBC (1988)

lbc_1988.gifSimple, colourful sticker for LBC.  Very 80s!

LBC News Radio (1986) #3

lbc_1986_c.gifSticker promoting the news coverage on a news station.  Apparantly it used to be fast - whatever that means?!?

LBC News Radio (1985) #3

lbc_1985_c.gifA mid 80s window sticker for LBC News Radio -  with nice use of the London skyline and strong 'important' colours.  It may well be clichéd but this has to be my favourite ever sticker.

LBC News Radio (1985) #2

LBC News Radio

Hertfordshire's Mercury 96.6 (2006)

95.8 Capital FM (1995)

Galaxy 101 (1996)

Galaxy 101Mid 90s sticker for Severn Estuary regional radio station Galaxy 101.

The station started out in 1990 as a local station for Bristol called For The People Radio (FTP) on 97.2FM.  Sold within 12 months to the Chiltern Radio Group it was rebranded as Galaxy 97.2.  After winning the UK's first regional radio licence it became Galaxy 101.

The station was later sold and became Vibe 101.  Now it's Kiss 101.

Plymouth Sound Radio (1995)

Plymouth Sound RadioAt this point in time Plymouth Sound offered different output on AM and FM but kept the same name for both.  The AM station later became Classic Gold - and is now called simply - Gold.

News Direct 97.3 (1997)

News Direct 97.3Sticker promoting the regular travel updates on News Direct 97.3 (later branded as ITN News Direct, now LBC 97.3).

Fox FM (1998)

Fox FMLate 90s sticker for Oxford and Banbury station Fox FM.

Have a look at today's logos for Fox FM, 107.7 The Wolf or Ram FM - no sign of any animals!

LBC News 1152 (2005)

LBC News 1152.gifNo slogan here - just the unique selling point.  Although is weather that important to Londoners?

261 LBC Radio (1976)

LBC RadioA nice example of a sticker from 1976 for LBC Radio.  Note the change of frequency from 417 to 261.

107.8 Radio Jackie (2007) #2

107.8 Radio JackieCoaster-sized lapel sticker for 107.8 Radio Jackie.  The red and blue work well on this one.

LBC News Radio (1985) #1

LBC News RadioA massive window sticker for LBC News Radio.  It's about the size of a dinner plate and would be given to London businesses to put in their windows.

107.8 Radio Jackie (2007) #1

107.8 Radio JackieThe same slogan, the same logo, the same font.  Radio Jackie is still the sound of south west London - but now fully legal!

107.8 Arrow FM (2000)

107.8 Arrow FMAn example of a sticker for Arrow FM - the ILR for Hastings - the town obsessed with 1066 and all that.

Radio Jackie (1980s)

107.8 Radio JackieSticker for the then pirate station Radio Jackie.

Radio Jackie is now on 107.8FM and is the ILR for South West London.

BBC Radio Jersey (1983)

BBC Radio JerseyA bit clichéd but very effective use of an outline of the island.  The grey background in this sticker is in reality transparent.

BBC Radio Jersey launched in 1982 and this is an early sticker from the station.

106 CTFM Radio (1997)

106 CTFM RadioILR for Canterbury in Kent.

Has since become KMFM for Canterbury.

2CR (1980s)

2CRNice brightly coloured sticker for 2CR (Two Counties Radio).  The ILR for Bournemouth and Poole.

Note that 2CR was on 97.2 until (I think) the early 90s, when it was moved to 102.3.

If you can help with identifying the date of this sticker please leave a comment.

417 LBC News (1973)

417 LBC NewsThe first radio sticker produced by the UK's first independent local radio station.

BBC Radio Bristol (1980s)

BBC Radio BristolQuite a big non-window sticker.  About the size of a standard slice of bread!  Nice use of Clifton Suspension Bridge.

If anyone can more accurately date this sticker please leave a comment.

Ocean Sound (1987)

Ocean SoundQuite a beauty really. Nice font, nice colours.  Cheesy slogan but hey, it was the 80s!

LBC News Radio (1986)

LBC News Radio

A non-window sticker this time.  Business card in size, this is the type of sticker that could be stuck on a lunchbox, lamp-post or lemon.

From a marketing perspective I don't really see the value of 'Join me' - it seems a bit weak.  Why should they?

LBC Radio (1978)

lbc_radio_1978.gif

A rather odd sticker this one... not sticky in any way! If you want to put one of these in your window you'll have to lick two envelope-glue strips at each end of this paper 'sticker'.
